SKILLS – COMMONLY USED
Each skill in my collective toolbox compliments and supports the overall product.
FROM MY WIDE AND VARIED SET OF SKILLS, THESE LISTED HERE PRESENT THE MOST COMMONLY USED IN MY WORK. THE PERCENTAGES SHOWN ARE MY PROFICIENCY IN THAT SKILL.
Additionally, I have an extensive background creating web graphics, website construction and coding (HTML, CSS, WordPress), corporate identity, branding, storyboards, set design, fine art illustration, and painting.
As a lifelong musician, I have an intermediate proficiency in Logic Pro / Avid Pro Tools, and can compose / record / edit my own musical pieces. I possess a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Design, and also have two years of architectural design education.
The path between two points is not always a straight line…
.
All along my journey through a varied and challenging career, I have always thoroughly enjoyed both sides of my career… the artistic and technical. Passionately exploring how and what I could create through inspiration, imagination, creativity, technology, and innovation.
Building on the foundation of my fine arts / design education, my professional experience has been predominantly digital and highly technical in nature, spanning multiple disciplines. Because of this, I consider myself a digital generalist. It is not a title I have been pursuing, yet I wear it proudly, and I consider it an honor.
My professional career started in the web industry. Being part of the onset of this new technology was exciting. No one knew exactly what it was, or what it was going to become. As the technology developed, we pushed the boundaries of what websites could do, and how we interfaced with them. I quickly became dissatisfied with merely designing websites, so I learned how to build sites as well.
My next step landed me into the entertainment industry as an Art Director for an independent record label. I was able to combine my illustration skills with my digital skills. It was here that I learned the ropes of the print industry as well as the music industry.
From there I spent some time working in e-Commerce, with a strong emphasis in UX Design, as well as advanced HTML5 and CSS skills.
However, it was not until I got involved in motion graphics, that I finally felt like I was home; After Effects changed my life. All of the static art that I loved to produce suddenly animated to life. I worked painstakingly to learn as much as I could, as fast as I could. Then, almost by accident, I dove headfirst into Cinema 4D. And, finally, I fulfilled my lifelong desire to create in 3D.
With Redshift / Octane Render, I became enamored with the speed and ease in which one can create breathtaking renderings. Shortly after, I found my way to X-Particles, and it became my new obsession.
Now, as technology continues to grow by leaps and bounds, I am exploring new software such as UnReal. This technology allows for hyper-realistic graphics to be rendered in realtime. Figma, and possibly Rive are in my near future. I am also exploring new AI tools as this technology develops.
I am a father of two wonderful children. Life is so much more than your job, and I make sure my mind and body are in top shape. I have a consistent fitness routine, I play soccer and I train jiujitsu. I practice yoga, meditation, and different forms of breathwork. I play guitar and piano. I write and record music. I draw. I paint.
I’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU…
